A Photography Studio
an exploration in temporality through photography, screening, and natural light
A parallel exists between a screen and the art of photography. The screen, a spatial organizer, and the camera, a physical instrument, both manipulate light in an effort to craft an experience or tell a narrative. This exploration seeks to spatialize the relationship between these two entities. A screen, stair, and photography studio are arranged in a large open volume. Their sequence and adjacencies speak to the temporal qualities of screening, passage, and the act of capturing a moment with a camera. Natural light is filtered through the screen and stair and washes into the photography studio. This action creates transient patterns of light, which engage the space and influence the body of work produced within the space.
